Pontardawe Youth Club’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal for Rough Sleepers 2017 Well tonight we have handed over our boxes to Mark Barret at the Mission Church in Neath and Huw and Cerys Davies at the Brunswick Methodist Church in Swansea. It was fantastic to see everyone doing their bit to help out those less fortunate and humbling to think we were able to help them. This year is the first time Pontardawe Youth Club have been involved in such a scheme and we will build on this next year thanks to people in the community helping us blast through our target. On another note our selection boxes have been wrapped up and are ready to hand out to the Children on Morriston Hospital’s Oakwood Ward. Without your kind support this would not have been possible. Katy has done really well in collecting the baby clothes which again you supported. These are being made available at Pantry to those who need them in the Swansea Valley and Cwmgors areas. So here goes the totals We aimed to get 67 filled shoe boxes; we got 180 boxes filled. Selection boxes; last year we collected 86.......this year we have managed to get 150!!! Fantastic. Some of these will be handed to Social Services to hand out to children. Finally we managed to collect over 400 items of baby clothes. So I’m sure you’d agree with me in saying this is brilliant and down to the kind support of the people of Pontardawe and beyond. We can’t emphasise enough how proud we are to help others less fortunate in our Community. This has been an amazing and humbling experience. Thank you everyone for your support.
